Maybe unfairly, much of it clicked more listening to it now, but I still feel it needs to be edited. On my previous post on Speakerboxxx/The Love Below I wrote this one off when it came out. Not a personal favorite or anything, it's actually a pretty tough listen but another that is a genre defining album. I think To Pimp A Butterfly should be in the top 10. To me this album and Voodoo are defining albums of the late 90s regardless of genre. Back then I just viewed it as a really good album, but didn't pay much attention to what it was about. Being much older now a lot of that album makes a lot more sense and I am about the polar opposite demographic to what she is singing/rapping about and even I felt it. I still don't know about this being number 10 but I do think this is a significant album in music history along with having tremendous spirituality, depth and meaning, certainly more so than some of that pop/children's music of the 60s or 70s that Rolling Stone has rated so highly. I listened to all of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill last night. I think the dud list would be something that can be universally agreed upon. The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II The PharcydeĬlick to expand.Yes agree with you on all of those. Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The End of the DayĤ82. The Weeknd - Beauty Behind the MadnessĤ59. Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too LateĤ03.
OutKast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Belowģ67. A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight MaraudersĢ90. Public Enemy - Fear of a Black PlanetĢ01. Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d cityġ76. De La Soul - Three Feet High And Risingġ15. Missy "Misdemeanor" Elloitt - Supa Dupa Flyġ03. A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theoryĩ3.
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)Ĥ3. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted FantasyĢ7. Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Backġ7. Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hillġ5. So what did y'all think about the hip-hop albums included and their placement on the revised Top 500 Albums list by Rolling Stone Magazine? There's definitely more of it, that's for sure.ġ0.
